I am a food pervert. A food pervert is someone who may also be known as a "foodie," or a food snob, someone who LOVES food and considers it a crucial part of their livelihood. Also, someone who considers dining an art form.

Food perverts are always thinking about food; what his or her next meal is going to be, and where it's going to be. When a food pervert gets a craving for a specific kind of food, they MUST have it within hours of the thought.

A food pervert has no boundaries...everything is his or her favorite. A food pervert has a very distinct intuition when it comes to food. They almost know how good something will taste before it even touches the tongue. It's like a sixth sense. Food perverts also enjoy cooking themselves and are quite good at it.

It is very important as well to understand that food perverts are NOT foodaholics. A food pervert does not indulge to excess or abuse food. They appreciate the flavors of what they are eating, but do not eat to extremes.

I wasn't always a food pervert. In fact, as a child I had somewhat of a repressed appetite. This was not easy, as my father was a food pervert himself. He was always cooking exotic dishes and taking my mother and I out to new restaurants, Mexican food in particular, but there I was a six year old that only wanted grilled cheese sandwiches and french toast...nothing much beyond that. My father was concerned that his little girl would never develop a palate for all of the delicious foods that the world had to offer.

Luckily, I did not remain a picky eater forever. In fact, now I may even be a bigger food pervert than my father! I can recall several times I have called him from sushi bars, taco stands, farmer's markets, tapas bars, pizza places, Thai restaurants..."Dad! You won't believe what I'm eating right now!" I always make sure to give him a call whenever I taste something new or cook something new...or just tasty! You know you are NOT a food pervert if you have never called someone just to talk about what you're eating. My mother is not a food pervert, but we still love her.

Food perverts know that food is art. They understand and respect the work and creativity that goes into the preparation of a truly satisfying meal or treat. I am a food pervert for all of the reasons listed. I really do love food, it excites me and makes me happy. I look forward to dining at new restaurants and analyzing whether I liked what I ate, or not, and why.

Food is the oldest expression of culture on earth. It is what fuels us. Therefore food is life and life is what we make it, so make it taste good!

the food pervert, aka, Tara Redfield, came to Los Angeles five years ago and started working right away as a casting assistant for one of her favorite cooking shows, The Take Home Chef, starring Aussie Chef, Curtis Stone.  Her path has taken her many ways since that initial dive into the entertainment industry, including casting for MTV and even a turn as a Hostess at LA’s downtown bar The Edison (one of the best new bar’s in America, said Esquire Magazine).

She loves acting, writing, music, fashion, and food...and is happily making them all work.
